Can I bring my class for a visit to the Rubenstein Library?

Duke Classes

  • We are excited to welcome Duke classes into our classrooms, and look forward to having students get hands-on experience with rare books, manuscripts, photographs, and other media in our collections.
  • To start planning a Rubenstein Library instruction session, please submit an instruction request. Because of the amount of staff time required to prepare for our instruction sessions, we require at least two weeks' notice for classes.
  • After we've received your request, we'll pair you with a librarian or archivist who can work with you to tailor the instruction session's focus to your course's subject matter and learning objectives.
  • More information about our instruction program is available on our website.

K-12 Classes

  • Our primary mission is to serve the faculty, students, and staff of Duke University. We can sometimes support younger students as our staff time and classroom availability permit.
  • Please contact us to describe your pedagogical goals and arrange a date and time for the visit. If we're able to host you and your students, you'll be paired with a librarian or archivist who will host as your class and serve as your point of contact.
  • More information for K-12 teachers is available on our website.
